Discussion: TS4 Conversation Post

Inspired by the disjointed conversation of Tumblr (and worry about annoying people with lost of text posts while attempting to have one, and so on...), I'd like to try to have a conversation here. What are you excited for in TS4 from what we've seen so far? The return of rotational gameplay? The breastfeeding option? The awesome cat vest?! Are you worried about the sim count and lot limit? Do you love or hate the style? Or are you over it all already? Let's hear it! :)

I'm not around as often as I used to be, so please talk amongst yourselves here as much as you like! I do get windows of time to participate (usually with a sleeping, teething baby worn on me in a carrier, or when my toddler wants to watch "the YouTubes"), so I will jump in whenever I can.

Also, hi! It's been a while. :) I miss this.

I was sold the minute I saw what the game looks like. I'm so happy they are going back to the cartoony look, because that is what makes TS2 so amazing for me. Of course, TS4 won't be a replacement for TS2, but the game suits my style, which I am very excited about!

And, of course, I am very very happy about Grim Reaper. He is my favourite part of The Sims, and I think his new design is fantastic! :D

There isn't really anything I can think of that puts me off about the game yet. I'm sort of waiting to play it first before making judgements and deciding that this or that which is missing or done poorly makes the game worse. Some of the stuff I've read sounds a bit odd (like the toddler thing), but, once again, I'm waiting to see how these things effect the game before dissing any of it.

My only concern is the system requirements. They claim they will make it more accessible, but their terms of accessible and mine might not be on the same page. And as a dirt poor student, I'd be very unhappy if I have to wait bazillion years before I can afford a computer that can cope with The Sims 4. I've still not fully experienced and enjoyed The Sims 3 for this reason, and it's frustrating that the next game is already being released before I had the chance to actually get anywhere with it. I don't want to experience that with The Sims 4 again. Nope.

The price of the game itself (especially here in Australia) is silly in my opinion, but I am prepared to pay for it - I do understand that these things have budgets and they do also want to get some profit. And all those people who worked their butts off to produce this game for us also have families to feed, so the price of the game is not going to put me off.

Overall, I am very excited and cannot wait until the game is released!

I've read that about the 32-bit thing. It's a bit strange, I have to admit. My computer is 32-bit, but it is XP and since that is no longer supported by Microsoft, I have a feeling the game might not be supported on XP either. I need a new computer, mine is old and with XP out of date basically, it's probably in my best interests to get a new supported one. And the new one will probably be 64-bit.

I'm also a wait-n-see player, not just for system spec reasons, but also other features. I also have a bad history with pre-ordering, so I tend to stay away from it. It's just more feasible to wait before you spend a truckload of money on something you might not be fully satisfied with, even if there are things in TS4 that looks amazing and has me hooked. This also means I try not to negatively judge the game before playing it, even on the controversial things - like the removal of toddlers. Yeah, I find it bizarre and I'm angry that EA is taking this ploy to make more money, but honestly, I'm not surprised. EA has always tried to worm the money out of our pockets - that's business. They all do it, and they will never stop doing such infuriating things in hopes of pocketing the moolah. Rather than wasting energy on anger over this and just making myself miserable, I try to cut myself off from it (I don't have the power to fix our greedy capitalist world, so why get depressed over it?). Maybe the game will be okay without toddlers? I won't know until I play, since I can't experience the game fully just by looking at pictures and reading about it. Besides, I mostly play with adults and elders anyway, so the loss of toddlers is not that big to me. But it's still going to be weird!

Ah, Macs. I have a Mac as well, love it, but for gaming it's pretty useless. I'd be interested to see how they approach the Mac thing. Hopefully they have learned from their flop with TS3 and Cider, but then again, this is EA we are talking about.

Hey! Long time no see. You mentioned the Grim Repear's new design - I can't seem to find it anywhere?

It has indeed been a long time! :D How are you?

You can have a look at Grim Reaper and his new awesomeness here:

- http://simsvip.com/2014/06/09/the-sims-4-the-grim-reaper-returns-and-has-new-tech/

I think what sold his concept to me was the Freezer Bunny. It totally suits how I perceive him as a character. :P

I am good! I miss sims. Looking forward to TS4, but now having a few doubts. Still haven't got a computer to play it on, anyway, so maybe my qualms and queries will be redundant. How are you? How is Canberra? Wintertime at the moment, right? Anyway, Grimmy is looking cool. I'd like his robes to a little more elaborate, and all the pics we're getting are still so fuzzy, but I love the freezer bunny. I always knew that critter was in league with Death himself. You can't have a stare that demonic and not be. Death and the maiden? No, Death and the bunny.

Everyone seems worried about TS4, which I understand, but I also understand where EA is coming from, and while I hate their obvious greedy attitude, there isn't much we can do about it. I don't know if my computer will be able to cope with TS4 either, but I do need to get a new one, so I know how you feel.

I'm well. I'm in Melbourne, actually, not Canberra - I don't know if it would be safe to put me in Canberra. The Prime Minister is there majority of the year, and I hate his guts, so if I see him walking down the street, I might lose my temper and throw food at him or something. Lol. Not really. I just wish I could do that. XD And yes, it is winter. I am at my parents's place at the moment, and they just have to live in the mountains where I freeze my toes off! Melbourne gets cold too, but not like this place. Doesn't help my parents have wooden floors instead of carpet like I have back home.

Grim looks awesome! I am really excited about his design in the game. Hopefully there will be a mod or something where we can use his costume like in TS2 for storytelling, because I am so writing a little story for his TS4 version...or something. :D

Hi there! Most of my activity is now on my Tumblr, so please head over there if you'd like to see what I'm up to. Story updates will still be posted here.
